Ensemble...

The new challenge is up on the blog at More Than Words!
Word Inspiration - Together
Creative Challenge - Ampersand

My page is called: Ensemble. This is the French word for together, or as we call it in Dutch: samen.
The page is about my daughter and her friend, they are friends since they met at kindergarten and still (now three years later) they love to play together. I hope they will be able to treasure their friendship for a long time!

Thank you for watching!

Life is beautiful....

Hi everybody!
I am so excited to share my creation for my first blogpost for Lindy's Stamp Gang

In the art of watercolor, artists often use heavy watercolor paper and wet it thoroughly with a brush, and then brush watercolors onto the paper to create landscapes - this is called Wet-in-Wet. I got the idea to use the Starburst sprays (a fluid watercolor) and let the colors move and blend in a certain way. This way you get a vivid, colorful background paper, that actually needs no processing afterward. I made a video for you to see how this technique goes.

My butterflies are all stamped and embossed with Lindy's wonderful embossing powder Midnight Teal. I actually have some older jars, but they don't seem to get empty, no matter how many times I use them!

I have also used the wonderful flair from Accent Scrapbooking 'life is beautiful' as my title.
And the chipboard title and branche from The Dusty Attic

And here is the video I made for you.

I would like to enter my layout for the

I was inspired by the gorgeous purple colors, the flower picture and the middle bottom picture. I am not sure what they are, but to me they let me think of butterflies. And I used butterflies a lot in my layout. From the sketch I used the two photo's on top of eachother with the title on the right.

Mixed media canvas 'Art is the answer'

Hi everybody!
So excited, my first post as a Dusty girl!

I have been wanting to alter a brush for quite some time now, and now I finally decided, let's do this!
I used one of my favorite chippies from The Dusty Attic, the Lacey Trims, which I love to use to create an elegant composition.

I started with Creative Script Stencil and modelling paste on my canvas.
Meanwhile I painted the chipboard and brush with white gesso. I painted the flower too.
When all was dry I glued them on my canvas with 3d gloss gel.
Then I used on the chipboard and brush Clear Crackle Varnish

When this had dried for more than 24 hours I added another layer of white gesso on the whole canvas, chipboard and brush.
The mechanical metal embellishments didn't get such a tick layer, just a little bit of gesso.
I glued them at the end of the painting process on the brush and canvas.

When all was dry I sprayed the canvas with water and started dripping Lindy's Time Travel Teal with a brush on it.
I did that too with Magical powder Steampunk Sepia on some parts.

I do not have any rusty effect paste, but I did wanted to give some parts that rusty look, so I used Finnabair mica powder gold and art alchemy acrylic paint steampunk copper and ancient gold, to give the rusty parts more shine and depth. The lighter blue parts got a little extra paint, light patina.

I was inspired by the gorgeous brown, white, teal and rusty colors from the

I really love the quote. It is definitely something I need to remind myself very often.
Feelings and emotions need to get a place somewhere in your mind, and I for sure know that making art is one of the things that helps me deal with my feelings and fears...so...

Art is the answer.....

Monochromatic layout for 7 Dots Studio

The new challenge 'monochromatic' at 7 Dots Studio is up on the blog, and I hope you will like it just as much as I do!
I love black and white, it gives so many options to create whatever feeling you will like to express.

I wanted to give my layout that snowy, dreamy feeling, like a winter-wonderland...
I had so much fun creating this page, layering black and white gesso on the paper and chipboard pieces, using the letters stencil with light paste and glitters, adding white leaves and lace, beads, glitter and stars...I also used some straws, so I would like to enter my layout for the January challenge 'straw' at Scrapki Wyzwaniowo

Mixed media canvas 'Write your own story'

The beginning of this new year is very special for me.

I made this canvas, and it is something to remind myself during this year...
I had to think about if I wanted to share my very personal story behind this piece with you, but I decided to do it, because it may help others with this dilemma too...

This year I challenge myself to write my own story. I accepted more DT spots than I normally would do. I held back for so long, because I am afraid I can't live up to other people's expectations and have creative blocking issues when I have deadlines.

I decided to stop thinking this over in my head, and just go for it. I have six month's to find out if I can do this, or not. If I can't, than it will be fine, I did my best and I will have peace with it. I will have overcome my fear, and which outcome it might be, I will gain a valueable lesson from it.

So this is my goal for 2017. I decided to do these DT's for myself. Not for others. For me. And I promised myself not to be bothered if I fail, because it will not be a failure, it will be a lesson and an expierence.

I made this canvas for my first 2017 blogpost at 7 Dots Studio, and for the December challenge at Words & Paintery, because that quote really fits my goal to accomplish this year, so well.

The gorgeous papers from Writer's Block (Torn) has all these little retangles, and I suddenly got the idea to use it in the background of the canvas. I glued  4 retangles down with 3d gel, and added a layer of clear gesso. After drying, I added a layer of clear crackle and added some white crackle in the middle of the canvas too.

I used the letters stencil and white gesso to create some more texture.
I started spraying some Lindy's inks (Moon Shadow Long John's Silver and Starburst Frozen Jack Frost) on the crackled surface, and added some more, using tissue paper to soak up excess inks, and using a heattool to dry faster.

My chipboard piece and druzy stones are also sprayed with the inks and dabbered with white gesso here and there. I used some crackle on the chipboard, on the badge and on the word sticker too.
I wrapped some wire around the canvas before I glued everything else down.

Happydays (celebrate your smile) for More Than Words

Hi everyone!

Here is my first page for More Than Words.
Look at that wonderful new challenge Celebrate & Bling
I hope you will be inspired to play along this month!

When I think of the word celebrate, I can use a lot of different (actual) celebrations, but something that really makes my heart full of joy, is the smile of my daughter.
So I wanted to celebrate her beautiful smile!

For the creative part of the challenge I added lots of glitter and holographic sparkles, and I used glitter in my background (mixed with modelling paste), I covered the doily die cuts with glitter and I used it on my title. I love glitter and bling bling. I use them all the time on my pages, so this wasn't a challenge for me at all....

I used the wonderful papers from 7 Dots Studio Writer's Block
Beautiful chipboard title and stencils from The Dusty Attic
And the lovely word flairs from Accent Scrapbooking
