Mixed media canvas 'find your happy'

Just a little note...Find your happy

I hope I can give everybody just a little happiness with my newest mixed media canvas, made for my last DT blogpost at Lindy's Gang

I was inspired by the thematic challenge for June at Mixed Media & Art 'handmade background and letter' to create my own background.

The Prima Marketing June challenge inspired me to make it an oceanic themed project, with blue, yellow, taupe and golden colors in it.

I went all the way with my background, adding lots of texture and color.
It really was a super cool creative journey to create this canvas.

I have made a video tutorial for you, to see how I created this canvas.

I used lots of Finnabair art basics, art ingredients and embellishments, as well as her fabulous waxes.
The chipboard title and nautical pieces are from The Dusty Attic.

To give my canvas color I used Lindy's Gang Starburst sprays Tiffany Lou Blue, Yellow Rose of Texas and California Poppy Gold

The gorgeous metal fishes are from Scrap Unlimited

Salt in the air & sand in my hair...

My little girl and I were on the beach at March 26th this year, and we had such a peaceful and joyful afternoon together.
It gave me a wonderful feeling of being blessed, because we both felt this amazing inner peace after being there for just a few hours.
We collected shells together and I wanted to use them for an altered piece.

I had a very big shell in my stash for quite some time now, and it was perfect for an altered project.
My sweet friend Kasia had send me these cute little seahorses and I used them on my project to let them represent me and my little girl that afternoon at the beach...

I first ripped the sides of the seagrass chippies a little bit apart, and then I painted them twice with white acrylic paint.
I glued some sisal  and the seagrass chippies in the bigger shell with 3d gel.
Next I added the little shells, metal stars, metal round objects and the seahorses.

When it was dry, I painted everything with clear gesso.
Then I poored some clear crackle varnish between the layers of the little shells.
When it was dry and crackled, I added a layer of white gesso.

And then the fun began! I sprayed blue and yellow-gold inks from Lindy's Stamp Gang on my project, and dried it with a heattool. Adding several layers  until I was satisfied.

I added gold Finnabair wax with a brush and my fingertips. Highlighting my little seahorses in the middle.

The chipboard title is first embossed with white embossing powder and then painted with white acrylic paint. When the paint was not yet dry, I sprinkeld some golden glitter over the title.

I was inspired by the theme and moodboard from the June challenge at Mixed Media Place
This altered shell is a keepsake, to treasure the memory of that day at the beach forever...

7 Dots Studio tags

7 Dots Studio Dreamscapes tags are really gorgeous, and they inspired me to use them for the color challenge moodboard at Lindy's Stamp Gang. I had so much fun creating these tags. And the making of them is actually quite simple.

I started with covering both tags with clear gesso, and when dry, I added triangle and geometry patterns with the new Dreamscapes stencils and modelling paste.

Next I added color by using spray's from Lindy's Stamp Gang.
Sometimes I held the tags a little bit up and down to let the inks move. I dried it with the heattool.

When they were dry, I took some 6 x 6 papers from Dreamscape and sew the tags on the paper. I cut them out and used a paper distresser for the edges.

Then I added my flowers and metal embellishments. I added some Finnabair waxes too on the metal embellishments and a little bit on the edges of the paper.

Last step, gently spray the word stickers and ribbon in matching colors and add them to your tags.
